The Fanciful Artistic World----- WenLong Tsai
’s “Heaven ‧Earth‧ Human”.

Create a bright world of art under the Dadaism to the ture of surrealism, this is what the young artist Tsai Wen-long believes. Though discontented with the real world, he finds hope and new life in the spirit of overcoming, by which he creats new forms of art and attitudes towards the aesthetic.
In philosophy, Surrealism is based on the true of a form which always be abandoned and thinking that it has the more realities.
As a result, the hallucination from the aesthetic consciousness discards Realistic cliché and searches for new expression about the true.
These idea were rooted in Tsai when he was a student. It’s hard for others to accept his thought. This is a very sad experience. However,it’s an undeniable fact that the experience innovate his achievement today.
One day when he was painting the plaster figure in an art studio , he sketched its hair into two horns. Angrily, the teacher got him out on the spot and called him freak. Later he took his painting for opinion , the teacher didn’t take any look and paid no attention, saying that “You are better than I ! ”. Not only the teacher despised him but also his classmates.
At that time he was fully isolated. Instead of surrendering himself , he looked for improvement courageously and consulted masters. Finally, this ambitious artist discovered the correct way he should follow.
Such dream-like “Frightened” and “Out of shape” are the elements of Surrealism, which are based on Sigmund Freud’s psycho-analysis which analyses that dream is a powerful expression originating from suppressed desire. The desire is monitored by consciousness when one is awake. If forbidden by the social standard or disallowed by the general conscious, it will be abandoned immediately, soon turn into sleep and have dreams. We can say that both the dream and the orgination of phycosis are going to meet the desire. That is one of the reasons,so the dream is the origin of phycosis in fact.
Then, according to the psycho-analysis, surrealists pursues the potentiality of subconscious, presenting the dreamy illusion on the picture only by shape and color, Picasso and Dary are good examples.
They show the deepest feeling of human by the color and shape, trying to expand the world in dreams into the art world. It can be regarded as a kind of psychological or physiological phenomenon, being relating to the conception of psychoanalysis and connecting with the dream research into a fantastic world. It froms a new kingdom of art gradually.
Consequently, being free from the restriction of time and space. On the one hand describing the outlook of an era, on the other hand moving forward constantly. In order to live in a complicated world leisurely and satisfy the need in life, they create a fabulous 、ideal world-- The artificial paradise.
WenLong Tsai had understood and created by his own style. He felt grateful to the teacher’s discrimination and abjection , otherwise ,he might follow the ordinary artistic steps . Although he was despised as a outsider at that time ,he arose to encourage himself and began attempting new art. Without the stimulation, he would never find out the answer.
The hallucinatory world of WenLong Tsai belongs to the East, but the form which composes a beautiful image is mixing a Western skill with the presention of “Zen”.
Like the “Pregnancy”, is totally blank excepting the frame and signature. The picture was applying the technique named “Collage”—pasting up the white paper in different sizes and showing the outline of a pregnant woman by a few curves in a pale blackness, which is a vivid brushwork which is impossible for the inexperienced.In other words, birthing from nothing and implying from something, the empty world symbol reveal an esthetic sensibitility with calligraphy.
The “the leave in the end of the century”is the subtitle of “Take off”,which have the rhythmic outline and the ink of charcoal. The formation of the spot, the line and the surface is wonderful, on the contrary, feeling helpless because the anxious emotion accumulated in the heart.
The “Tai chi‧Space‧Human” , which paint the human lovely, pointing out the importance of the Tai chi in our world and the close relation between the men who live in the life. What a brilliant painter, especially originating the construction by the theory of IChing and the three principle composition laws by Cézanne.
Both of the“Huge dragon A” and “Huge dragon B” are the masterpieces : the former is about move,the latter is quiet. The move one separates the masculine from feminine, entirely symbolizing the human concept in mind. Like the original concept about creating the era , which the human belief and vision overturns continuously. At the same time, it represents the beauty of the China Craft spirit and transforms the understanding of hallucination.
The “Birdman”, overlook the unknown world and the sensation about greediness. The consciousness is changeful with time pass away. What can we do? We can experience our foolishness and contradictons from the sensitive line
The “Shouts”, everyone has his own helpless time. Only “Shouts” can get rid of the agony in mind. Perhaps all the invasion、 restraint and captivity are incapable of shouting out after accumulating for ages. That is a naked world because it behaves too much real.
The“Can” is the majority of “Tai Chi”, which is a religious combination of the light and dark. The“People” is similar to the beast. How to define the man?
The“Me” is a self-portrait of unconscious confession, which describes frankly, lovable and cool.
From his first individual exhibition in the Cultural Center of Kaohsiung, he has made a great efforts and progress. Besides, he has participated in many associations' activities and received a lot of nice comments.The individual exhibition,“Heaven‧Earth‧Human”, is much significant for the artist who was born at Kaohsiung’s suburbia 28 years ago. We look forward to see the colorful achievement in his individual exhibition next time.

Born in 1966, WenLong Tsai is a outstanding student graduated from the art major in high school.He is a painter as well as a art designer, who once earned the poster design award in a competition. In addition, he is a great stage performer has quite contribution to promote the drama in Kaohsiung. His works has been invited to exhibit in the Cultural Center of Kaohsiung and other public places individually or jointly, which both gained the high praise. WenLong Tsai,who transcend traditions and break it, his works emphasis the concept from feeling as well as extends the cultivation and spirit level . Developing a kind of intense feature, he attempts to enter inside and seeking the survivorship and death for discussing and interpreting the human life. Because the sensitive soulful viewpoint existing a kind of surreal content inside, it’s difficult for others to enter his inner world. It’s a kind of valuable injury for resulting, but open the world where he can soar freely. To art for art, ultimately could acquire the masterpieces . Accordingly, he abandoned yesterday and ignored today. What he drew is an ideal “Tomorrow” – a regeneration from the feeding bottle to the walking stick! Take notice of his pictures ,showing the fierce enthusiasm and indifferent coolness at once. The feeling like the inscription contains a kind of innovation in life will never complete and symbolize the eternity. This is the unique level about his brushwork.
