這一次篆刻課程依舊請到我們喜愛的馬老師，在和他討論課程時，總是很開心愉悅，他說的想的，也讓人覺得很年輕！我想就是來自他的創意吧。
關於創意這回事，可別因為老師上了年紀，對於創意，有些想法還真是令人意外。
創意創意，這兒講到快爛的詞，從老師口中說出，真是有內涵的多。當然這也是希望大家重新回過頭來看看，篆刻書法，這傳統的元素裡，我們能找到什麼，看見什麼。
這次會聊到古文，字學，排板，石材。也是這次上課要談到的。
希望大家來玩，來想，來體驗吧。

而且！在我們特別要求下，老師這次會為我們題字給預先報名的學員，預先報名的人，可以提供要題字的內容（限10個字內喔，畢竟老師上年紀，我們也不忍讓他寫太多字），我們會幫大家作成小捲軸，加上親手刻的章，送給想送的人，夠心意手傳了吧！

八月，是個情人月，雖說是個商業炒作，但是情人在旁，不免俗的，還是得發揮想像力，讓他／她過的開心，至少做個新梗，讓對方驚艷一番也不錯。
我們請到草山金工美麗的女主人Karen（至少來聽她上課也是夠賞心悅目的），帶領我們，做出注入心力的銀戒，但我們不貪心，沒做過銀戒，我們就從基礎來，所以我們開了兩堂課，當然，學習能力夠強的人，直接殺來第二堂，也會很好玩。

第一堂的銀戒，會從簡單的兩種款式，讓大家擇一做起，雖然簡單卻是花時，沒關係我們可以慢慢來，就像師父的老工藝，總是注入了好心意在裡頭。
從材料到工具，一直到你完成手上第一只銀戒，這心意很夠吧！！

 << 以下是syko回應大家有關商業、廣告、與時尚攝影的一些議題，我將把意思寫出來，而不是逐字翻譯>>

  Chung-Li 提到: “對於商業、廣告、與時尚攝影大致上看來是共同的，卻有有些微的異處。” Syko認為最大的差別在於型式手法(style)，那就是，這三種攝影方式，是先把”主要客群”找出來後，預設立場並依照他們的喜好，把”餌”(影像)拍好，等著魚兒上鉤。就好像，為了賓士500系列的客人所設計的目錄，和習慣看卡哇伊加嘻哈bling bling的雜誌客群有很大的差異。

對我們來說，”商業攝影”的定義，是任何作品、任何攝影型態，以”賺錢”的意圖為先決條件所產生的作品。這表示，它可以是廣告、時尚、自然生態、色情，甚至也可以是意識形態上的，或是純藝術或是純展出式的攝影。同樣的，在藝廊、展出空間、博物館的影像，有許許多多，因為它的原始動機 ，對我們來說，是商業攝影。

這麼說吧，如果是由於慣於用影像紀錄日誌，我們拍了家中小朋友或家中小貓小狗的照片，這，我們不認為是商業攝影。但是，若是有”把小朋友和小貓小狗的照片送去影像銀行賣錢”的念頭，而動手拍這些影像，因為原始的意圖，我將稱它為”商業攝影”。

對我們而言，攝影有最三種最基本的型態:

1. 私人作品: 是單純的為自己而做，為自己想要表達而做、為自己想紀錄而做、為自己想要釐清或挑戰一些概念想法而做。

2. 商業攝影: 為了賺錢，可以同時為自己也為了客戶多賺些錢或賣些產品或提升形象而做。

3. 社會覺知與回饋/意識覺醒: 為了某種(公共)概念或是其他人比較不注意的議題做曝光，進而得到迴響甚至行動，而達到更好的解決途徑。

攝影可以只有以上三種型態的其中一種，它可以只是單純的商業行為-把客戶給你的東西如期專業的拍完並收到帳款，但是你真的不在乎也不認為這一季推出的15種桃紅色系亮粉唇蜜與麻豆越拉越低的胸線代表多大意義。攝影也可以是以上三種攝影型態的總合，通常我們稱這種project為”夢幻案件”。例如，假設台灣政府請你去環島，紀錄有關污染與美麗的影像議題，因為政府想提倡”綠色台灣”。於是，這個假設則是完美的夢幻案件，因為你可以藉著影像表達”你的”想法與觀點(私人攝影)，還有很不錯的收入(商業攝影)，更可以提倡這個地方的美好與該注意的議題(社會覺知與回饋/意識覺醒)。這是最好的數贏局面。

對我們而言，為自己而拍的私人作品，很有可能出現在商用領域。有人剛好喜歡你的私人作品而想要購買使用，不管是印雜誌或掛廁所，這種商業行為，只要銀貨兩訖皆大歡喜，有何不可。但是，對我們而言，”商業攝影”是無法轉回到私人作品這個區塊。因為商業攝影，利益，是你按下快門的最初意圖。許多攝影師不一定同意我們的觀點，這是很OK的，本來對於事情的看法人人不同。

 義大利的服飾公司”United Colors of Benetton”是一家很勇敢也很聰明的公司，雖然衣服與店面的樣式並非有了不起的設計與細節，但是80年代末期與90年代初期(註1)，它卻用了很不傳統的想法，用一般人不習慣看到的影像，在平面廣告上打出了知名度。

(註1: Benetton最令人印象深刻的平面廣告主題內容是天下為公的種族問題，影像多是一個黑人嬰兒和白人嬰兒抱在一起，或是，一群不同種族膚色性別身材的人(不講model因為不一定是)一起拍照。或是，拍一些比較令人聳動的影像與主題，例如死亡。在那個年代，雖然有普遍的種族平等，但是，很多的議題與想法尚未被提出討論與實踐。在那個年代，爸爸是白人媽媽是黑人雖然不是大事但也絕對比現在的”我的媽媽是媽媽，我的爸爸也是媽媽”的同性婚姻有壓力。在那個年代，歐巴馬雖然不必在公車上坐黑人席，但也不可能出來選總統。在那個年代，白人在加州還是主要族群，你在洛杉磯也買不到波霸奶茶和五更腸旺)

這個廣告叫"pieta"，在1991年，在全世界的愛滋病患好像只有洛杉磯湖人隊的魔術強生得病好的了的年代。

原始的影像是由攝影師Therese Frare照愛滋病人David Kirby臨死前的影像(黑白)。把死亡→影像主題"La Pieta"→顏色處理→耶穌→犧牲→米開朗基羅的Pieta雕像→benetton所關心的議題與社會覺醒→benetton的image。

(這是當年我去逛benetton的唯一理由)

就像多數的企業一樣，會進來淌渾水就是要來賺錢。但贏得我們尊敬它的原因是因為，他們成功挑戰並甚至有時候挑釁地，讓我們看到自己腦子裡曾經對某些人與事的拘泥刻板成見印象。它們對於大部份人不注意的議題曝光，並且，一點都不介意的表達他們的觀點。基本上，這本雜誌要讓你了解到這個世界有很多地方是亂七八糟的，希望人們能注意到並放在心上，並有所行動。

以我們所知，它是完全獎學金制度的一個學校-如果你未滿25歲，你就可以申請，一旦錄取，則學費全免。這是世界上很好的藝術與設計學校之一，但是並不容易進得去。

 我們認為商業攝影並沒有對錯，我們每天看到的許多影像，有大部份的比例都是商業攝影的結果，私人的影像作品，並不表示有著絕對比商業攝影更好的手法、標準或節操。唯一會令我們反對商業攝影的地方，是當我們要拍的影像或主題，是與你的信仰、道德或理念背道而馳時，則是不管有多好的利潤引誘，也必須嚴厲拒絕(註2)。

 雖然我們相信給予自己挑戰，但是並不是每一件事都必須搞得如此意義深重或以國家興亡為己任，那太容易令人感到無力與挫折了。對大部份的人而言，花一些時間去看看好的作品，讓自己的靈感與心理的觸感被激發，再來好好想想要怎麼搞定手上的這台相機和影像。

我們希望聽到大家不同的觀點，所以也想要看大家的回應。諸如此類的討論，與他人分享自己的看法與觀點，不管，在三天後或三年後會不會在想法上有所改變，看、聽、討論、實踐、辨證，在創作上則是不可或缺的。

(註2: 我想多談一下”創意工作者的道德”議題，或許，在台灣這個社會大家還不認為值得一提。

創意工作者所激發出生產出的影像、廣告標題、內容、形象、設計…將會影響成千上萬的viewers，你沒有辦法確定，每一個看你設計作品或廣告的人，永遠有很好的解析了解能力，也都受過很好的教育或有一定的年齡。你，必須為你自己的成品把關。

如果你是graphic designer或art director，你的主要服務目的是為你的客戶帶來更多的利益或更好的形象，你只能選擇符合自己道德理念的公司合作。你無法指使你的客戶改變跑道或把已經做好的產品直接焚化，這是社會運動者的工作。所以，你必須有所選擇。

以我自己為例子好了，有一些客戶，不管設計費多少，我們絕對不碰。這些客戶是: 菸草公司、速食連鎖公司、軍需武器公司、兒童色情行業，還有製造與販售化學農藥和食用肉品成長賀爾蒙與抗生素的公司，任何使用童工與血汗工廠的製造商…這個名單，或許會越來越長。或許，我的道德與其他人的道德有相同也有不同，這一把尺，在每一個創意工作者心中。

有一本比上述Colors雜誌更強烈的雜誌，叫ADBusters。有許多值得一看的graphic與photo的表達方式，去點出更深層的想法與議題。

OK，雖然是我私人觀點但我真覺得台灣(或中國人)有一種”如果現在改不了或好不了的話就是沒用無能”或”誰誰誰給我負責下台不然就切腹”的迷思，也有一種”看吧~我不說過了嗎，說了也沒用不如不說”的孤芳自憐態度。

ADBusters和Colors Magazine在很多年很多輯刊的數量後，有很多的議題其實不是新聞了，但是，這是一種constant reminder。他們一直以不同的角度、不同的表達手法、不同的說辭來提醒我們應該覺知的議題。不需要馬上好，不需要大刀闊斧，漣漪的力量集蓄起來也會有波浪。只有滴水可以穿石，颳颱風，石頭不是被沖走就是被打裂了。

I will try to answer what Chun-Li was asking.

Regarding Commercial, Advertising, and Fashion Photography, when Chun-Li said - “There seems to be common, but still there're some subtle difference”

I would say the difference is the style, in that, they have  target audience in mind and will make it

look appealing to the specific type of people.

To give you an example, if a fashion magazine is targeting young high school or college students

they would use a "cool" look to attract them.

If advertising company is designing an ad for a new Mercedes Benz 500 Series, they would use more sophisticated look to attract the older and wealthier clients.

TO ME “Commercial Photography” is any work, in any genre of photography that is produced with intent to MAKE MONEY.

That means it can be advertising, fashion, wildlife, pornography, and even conceptual and fine art photography. 

It also means that many photographs hanging in galleries and museums can very much be "commercial" work.

To give you an idea, if I take pictures of my kids for my personal diary, I would NOT call it “Commercial”. 

BUT, if I take pictures of my kids with intent to sell it to a stock photography agency to make money,

then I would call it “Commercial”.

TO ME, there are three basic approaches to photography.

1. Personal - for your own sake of the need to express, document, investigate or challenge ideas.

2. Commercial - to make money by taking pictures that your client can use to sell something.

3. Social Awareness/Contribution to Society - to expose an idea or an issue that others may not be aware of,

hoping they will adopt and take action towards better solutions.

It can be just one of those approaches, "Commercial" for an example - taking a picture of something

you don't really care about but you do it to make money.

Or, it can be combination of all three (AN IDEAL PROJECT).

Example - The Taiwanese Government paying me to travel around Taiwan and document

the pollution and using my photographs to promote "Greener Taiwan". With this scenario, I would be taking pictures

to document and express my views("personal"), get paid("commercial"), and to promote

greener Taiwan(Social awareness/Contribution to Society).         

It is possible for personal work to end up in the commercial arena - example, if someone

saw one of my diary pictures and wanted to buy it for a commercial use. 

But, IN MY OPINION, commercial work cannot end up in the “Personal” folder, because with

commercial work, MONEY was the INITIAL MOTIVE for taking the picture.

Many photographers will disagree with me on this issue, but it's ok, we all have different ideas on

what is "commercial" and what is "personal".

United Colors of Benetton is an exceptional company, in that, they are introducing

non-traditional ideas and subject matter into commercial market place(not at their retail stores but through their ads).

They use controversial ideas and subject matter as their marketing techniques (such as

fashion spread using people on death role).

At least that’s how they got most of their attention from the general public.

Like most businesses, they are in it to make money, but the reason why I respect them is because they challenge and provoke people’s preconceived notion about ourselves. They also expose issues that most people are not aware of and they show they point of view. Basically, the colors magazine tells you how messed up this world is, hoping people will take note and do something about it.

From what I know, it’s strictly a scholarship program - if you are under 25 years old, you can apply

and if accepted, you can attend their program for free.

It’s one of the better art & design schools, but from what many people say, it's not so easy to get in - maybe bureaucracy.

Back to the question, what do I think of all this?

Well, there is nothing wrong with doing commercial work, as it is needed to make this world go around.

In fact, I wish I had done more commercial work and made tons of money, so that I could be

building the por que temple right now.

Only thing I would oppose is doing something that is immoral, unethical or promoting something that is against my belief system.

Even though I believe we should challenge ourselves, it's important for people to know that

NOT EVERYTHING WE DO HAVE TO BE SO MEANINGFUL OR SO DEEP.

That would be too much pressure and we would be discouraged.

For most people, it's more important to be INSPIRED FIRST, and then, think about what you want to do with your camera and photography.

Again, I'm open to hearing other people's opinion, so I hope some of you will reply to this post.

Discussions like these are important to share with others, especially to those who are not sure how to approach photography.

   讓孩子學習另一種看的方法，啟發與探索另一塊新的領域。在他享受學習與創意玩樂的同時，你將藉著孩子的影像，更懂他。

Since we had to cancel the work shops, I searched the internet for some lighting techiniques for some of you to check out.

After spending nearly two hours, I came across few sites with some useful infomation.

Unfortuntly, these are all in English and they are BORING, but I think it's better than nothing.

BTW, I recently got a Nikon D80, and it's friggin amazing what these digital cameras can do.

I'm little afraid that I will not be using my film cameras as much.

But film cameras will never die...

Strobe: 攝影棚燈

Artificial Light: 人造光  ( 我剛看了這張照片愣了一下，圖中的庫尼老伯是溪口高中死黨，也是專業的手工衝浪板造型師，會根據你的身高體重、衝的浪、衝浪型態幫你量身訂做衝浪板，還可以放自己的logo、顏色或圖像←是不是應該找一群人來團購?。這是很多年前他幫溪口shape的板子，這個板子也千里迢迢的跟著我們到台灣。Shape surfboard要把兩邊的燈打的超亮，才能很仔細的做出很流線又對稱的好板子)

Diffuse Light : 柔光

Hard Light: 很熱也很直接的光

Lense Flare: "Flare" - 看得到"線"的光，多半呈喇叭狀由中心向外擴散。台語有句很貼切的話，叫"金光閃閃、瑞氣千條"，乃 Lense Flare 最高境界之寫照。
