話題女王芭黎絲希爾頓（見圖），最愛小型犬，圖中這隻被她抱在豪乳之前的吉娃娃，叫「小仙女」（Tinkerbell）。據報導，芭黎絲曾嫌一隻吉娃娃太胖而將牠拋棄。

她的姊妹淘小甜甜布蘭妮 也愛吉娃娃，但一隻換過一隻，而榮膺2006年「最差勁飼主」。

在名人帶動下，歐美興起一股飼養小型犬的熱潮，去年美國畜犬（AKC）公布的排名，約克夏犬受歡迎度僅次於拉布拉多，成為半世紀以來第二種擠進AKC排名前三名的小型犬種。

小型犬越來越受歡迎，但問題來了。因為小型犬看起來惹人憐愛，很多飼主都把小狗當成小孩對待，幫他們梳妝打扮、穿名貴狗服飾，還餵他們吃不該吃的人類食品，結果愛犬百病叢生，罹患許多人類疾病，甚至憂鬱症上身。這種現象稱為「芭黎絲希爾頓效應」（Paris Hillton Effect）

More than a third of small dogs have been treated for human-like health problems like obesity, experts have revealed .

According to the survey, 35 per cent of small dogs have suffered diet problems more usually associated with humans as a result of being treated like a child.

These include high cholesterol levels, digestive problems, bad joints and even depression, often as a result of being fed treats, including some fruit which owners think is healthy.
