English language requirements for international students – acceptance of Ascentis Anglia qualifications in ESOL International

 

 

Ascentis Anglia examinations have over 40,000 candidates taking them each year from all over the world and the number is increasing rapidly. It is therefore more and more likely that in your recruiting process you will come across applications listing AcCEPT Proficiency, an Ascentis Anglia ESOL International qualification, as the certificated evidence of their English competence. It may be crucial both to you and the candidate that you know about this qualification so that this recruitment opportunity is not missed. You will also want to be sure that a candidate with this qualification has the right level of English language skills to be able to cope with the demands of the course they wish to follow.

 

Ascentis is an English National Awarding Body accredited by both English regulatory bodies (QCA /Ofqual and QAA) to design, administer and award qualifications to national standards. Anglia Examinations has specialised in international ESOL examinations for 15 years. The Proficiency level is a QCA approved qualification at level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework, C1 in the Common European framework, and is listed as such in the National Database of Accredited Qualifications. It is listed in the UCAS handbook as one of the qualifications which universities accept and is valid for Tiers 2 and 4 of the Home Office points-based immigration system. Ascentis is also listed on the British Council website as one of the boards they work in partnership with, helping to promote the qualification overseas. 

 

In order that you may make a judgement on acceptance of this qualification in your institution, a sample paper and supporting information is enclosed. We would also be happy to talk to you directly about the appropriate level of achievement in Ascentis Anglia qualifications that you might wish to set as the requirement for a specific course or study discipline.

 

Please use the reply form at the back of the Information for Institutions document enclosed to confirm by post or online that a student from overseas applying for a vocational, undergraduate or postgraduate programme in your institution with the Ascentis Anglia AcCEPT Proficiency C1 ESOL International qualification would be deemed to have met the entry requirements in English language.
